What are your thoughts on doing your methylate test with my 7-year-old son, whose mother has Hashimoto's and who was diagnosed with Hirschsprung's late, at 2 years old? He underwent several surgeries and has normal bowel movements once a day, but we have to direct him to go. His mother had his TSH tested prior to the surgeries, and it was >12. Now, years later, he is still taking Synthroid, even though all his TSH levels have been <4 for a very long time. I've seen you discuss TSH levels and covering them falsely with Synthroid without fixing the problem. How might we be able to wean him from Levo?
I weaned off thyroid meds, and my TSH was a bit high at 5.6, but my endocrinologist was okay with it since all else was good. Now, that number has risen to approximately 8.6 in a matter of one month from the last test, but I have been off meds for about four months. I'm also struggling with my A1c, which went back to 5.7, indicating prediabetes. I have never been diabetic. What should I do about my thyroid and blood sugar levels?
How does a person get a genetic test? I'm 65, had a total hysterectomy at age 30, and have had no synthetic hormones since 2000. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at age 30 and was on Synthroid until 2000, when my doctor switched me to Armour. I've been on Lexapro for years for anxiety. My father had pernicious anemia and had to take B12 his whole life. I'm exhausted, depressed, and at a loss for what to do. I still work full-time at 65. Please advise. I love your podcast.
