Inspiration & Development

Alicia Long's journey to create the Nutr machine was sparked by a personal need for healthier plant-based milk options. She was inspired by the Nespresso model, aiming to provide high-quality, fresh plant-based milk at the touch of a button. Alicia's mother played a pivotal role by introducing her to homemade plant-based milk, which motivated her to make such nutritious options widely available 1.

I wanted to make it available everywhere. Every single household should deserve to drink that fresh plant-based milk, not the overpriced water in the box.

The initial phase involved bootstrapping and transforming their kitchen into a lab, with Alicia and her co-founder working tirelessly to develop the machine. They faced challenges in finding a manufacturer willing to support their small-scale production needs, but eventually succeeded, launching Nutr in 2020 2.

Nutr's innovation extends beyond the machine itself, fostering a vibrant community around recipe development. Alicia Long highlights the role of nutritionists and food scientists in curating diverse recipes that cater to various dietary needs. We actually have a community of people exchange and share the recipes in just a very organic way.
