Transitioning from farmers markets to retail shelves was a pivotal step for Christy. She began with four flavors, leveraging her previous experience in the food industry to navigate the competitive grocery landscape. The refrigerated nature of her bars distinguished them from other products, aligning with the growing paleo movement and opening doors to major retailers like Whole Foods.

It's in the fridge because we don't use any emulsifiers that make the product shelf stable, we don't use any preservatives.

The name "Honey Mama's" holds deep personal significance for Christy, reflecting her Southern heritage and family influences. Initially named Nectar Foods, the brand evolved to celebrate her roots and the use of honey as a primary sweetener. This rebranding was a tribute to her ancestors, who were all passionate cooks and bakers.

Honey Mama's kind of is one of my favorite stories because the name really is, you know, I have a lot of relatives in the south.
