M1 Max MacBook Pro Review: Truly Next Level!

Return of Ports

The return of ports on the new MacBook Pro marks a significant shift in Apple's design philosophy. Marques Brownlee highlights the inclusion of a full-size HDMI port, an SD card slot, and the MagSafe charging port, which are all aimed at reducing the need for dongles 1. This change is particularly beneficial for professionals who rely on these ports for their work, such as photographers and videographers who frequently use SD cards. The headphone jack now supports high impedance headphones, offering more power for audiophiles without the need for an external DAC 2.

It's kind of just like the convenient in a pinch type thing.

While the ports are not the latest versions, they still provide essential functionality, making the MacBook Pro more versatile and user-friendly.

Notch Design

The notch design on the new MacBook Pro has sparked mixed reactions, yet it serves a functional purpose. Marques Brownlee explains that the notch houses a 1080p webcam, ambient light sensor, and LED light, but its size seems excessive for the hardware it contains 3. Despite initial concerns, the notch does not interfere with the user experience, as the software cleverly integrates it into the display. The new display itself is a standout feature, boasting a mini-LED HDR panel with high refresh rates and thinner bezels, enhancing both visual quality and usability 4.

It's basically a mini pro display XDR, but with even higher pixel density and higher refresh rate.

This combination of design and functionality makes the MacBook Pro's display one of its most compelling features.
