Pike Management Challenges

The introduction of pike to south central Alaska has led to significant challenges in managing their population. Efforts to eradicate them include aggressive netting and the use of rotenone, a chemical fish management tool. Despite these efforts, the ongoing spread of pike is attributed to both human movement and their natural ability to traverse open systems.
