The Myth of Multitasking

Multitasking is often misunderstood; what we perceive as multitasking is actually task switching, which can lead to increased mistakes and cognitive overload. Research shows it takes an average of 23 minutes to refocus after switching tasks, contributing to stress and burnout. This tendency to juggle multiple tasks has deep roots in human behavior but is not conducive to productivity, despite societal glorification of the skill.
