Private Credit Growth

The private credit market, currently estimated at around $2.5 to $3 trillion, is rapidly expanding, posing a challenge to traditional banks as it captures a larger share of leveraged loans and direct lending. With banks concerned about their diminishing earnings, private credit firms are eyeing new growth avenues, particularly in asset-backed lending, a market worth $5.5 trillion. This shift is largely attributed to post-2008 regulatory changes that have pushed riskier activities away from regulated banks.
