Technical Challenges

Building next-generation AI data centers comes with significant technical challenges, including power and logistical requirements. Venturo explains that the market for electrical gear is tight, with lead times for components like substation transformers extending to years 3. "The problems that I'm solving on a day-to-day basis in these builds isn't even around the substation transformers. It's around, like, small components that somebody missed when they ordered the gear 16 weeks ago," he says, underscoring the logistical hurdles 4. These challenges require real-time problem-solving and coordination to ensure the timely delivery of data center capabilities.

   

Cooling Innovations

Innovative cooling solutions are crucial for optimizing AI data centers. Venturo discusses the shift from air to liquid cooling, which significantly reduces energy consumption by eliminating the need for server fans 5. "Everything we're doing is trying to say, okay, how much power can we use only for running our critical IT operations versus cooling the environment," he explains, highlighting the efficiency gains from these advancements.
