What is digital logic?

Digital logic refers to the rules and procedures used to manipulate digital signals to achieve computations and communications. Lex Fridiran addressed this concept in discussing the roles of electrons and light:

• Computation: This involves taking in some form of digital information, processing or manipulating it according to certain logic rules, and producing a new set of digital information that is hopefully more useful for a specific application.

• Communication: Unlike computation that may modify and reduce the information, communication primarily focuses on preserving and transmitting the information from one place to another without alteration.

In the same podcast episode discussing optoelectronic intelligence, it was highlighted that electrons are particularly effective for computation tasks, while light excels in communication tasks due to its properties 1 .
