• Do carb blockers work?

  • Sources:

Carb blockers, such as white kidney bean extract, can indeed reduce the absorption of carbohydrates to some extent. However, they do not seem to cause weight loss when included in a normal diet. This is because even though these blockers can prevent the immediate rise in blood glucose levels, the carbohydrates that reach the large intestine are still fermented into volatile fatty acids. These fatty acids are then reabsorbed into the liver, ultimately providing nearly all the caloric content of the carbohydrates in a different form. Therefore, while carb blockers can affect carbohydrate digestion, they do not significantly alter overall calorie absorption or contribute to weight loss 1.
