Lucy's Running Style

Lucy, the famous Australopithecus afarensis, lived 3.2 million years ago and had a unique running style. Researchers reconstructed her leg and pelvic muscles, revealing that she stood about 3.5 feet tall and weighed between 29 and 93 pounds. While capable of walking upright, her running was likely limited to short bursts, lacking the springy gait of modern humans.
