Understanding Electron Spin

Electrons are not traditional particles; instead, they exist as probability distributions with a unique property known as spin, which can be either up or down. This intrinsic angular momentum behaves similarly to classical angular momentum but is not the result of actual spinning. The arrangement of these spins within an atom determines its net spin and, consequently, its intrinsic magnetic moment, which parallels the magnetic field created by moving charges.
