Map Projections Explained

The Mercator projection distorts the poles and can lead to misconceptions about the sizes of different regions. Azimuthal projections, on the other hand, provide a more accurate representation of the poles but increase distortion as one moves toward the equator. Interrupted projections attempt to flatten the sphere by cutting it, resulting in a less aesthetically pleasing but more accurate depiction of landmasses. Understanding these various projections enhances our comprehension of geographical representations.
