Understanding Phobias

Phobias affect a significant portion of the population, with one in ten women and one in twenty men experiencing diagnosable fears. The concept of phobias emerged in the late 18th century, leading to a surge in the identification of specific fears. Interestingly, some phobias, like trypophobia, have been recognized only recently, suggesting that shared fears can emerge through social interaction and may have evolutionary roots linked to our aversion to pathogens.
