Understanding the Contras

The contras were a diverse group, united by personal grievances against the Sandinistas, rather than a monolithic entity. While some individuals committed unacceptable acts, the majority were ordinary Nicaraguans fighting for their rights and survival. Mischaracterizing them as solely former Somoza loyalists overlooks the complexity of their motivations and the true nature of their struggle.
