HDL Cholesterol Myths

Recent clinical trials have challenged the long-held belief that high HDL cholesterol protects against heart disease, revealing no reduction in atherosclerotic events despite elevated HDL levels. Instead, low HDL is often linked to high triglycerides and apob particles, shifting the focus of therapy away from HDL goals. Genetic studies further support that neither increased HDL through drugs nor genetic elevation provides cardiovascular benefits.
