My mother, who is now 73, had Covid in January 2021. By spring 2021, she was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse, and by November 2021, she underwent open heart surgery. She was healthy before this and had never seen a doctor. Before her surgery, the cardiologist and hospital recommended the Covid vaccine, which she complied with. Her recovery after surgery seemed normal, but by January 2022, she started experiencing lightheaded spells, which she describes as feeling like she is floating away or about to pass out. These spells continued for a few months before we sought medical help. We consulted multiple specialists, including cardiologists, eye doctors, ear doctors, family doctors, and a neurologist, but no one had answers regarding her condition. It is now January 2025, and we have more or less self-diagnosed her condition as some form of dysautonomia, suspecting that blood flow is not reaching her brain when it needs to. The symptoms are similar to those seen in conditions like POTS, but she does not have a rapid heartbeat. We have tried adding salt and electrolytes to her diet and identified weather as a trigger, but her symptoms only worsen in cold weather. I am wondering if you have any insight into what could be causing her condition and what remedies might help. I suspect that Covid may have caused her heart issue, and I believe she had mitral valve prolapse before the infection, which runs in her family. I think Covid exacerbated the problem, and the vaccine may have contributed to the subsequent issues she now faces. I would greatly appreciate any insight you could offer, as we have consulted many specialists without receiving answers. I hate that my mom has to live the last years of her life dealing with these symptoms instead of enjoying life to its fullest. Thank you for reading this, and I thoroughly enjoyed your podcast. It was very eye-opening, and my husband and I plan to implement many of your suggestions. Thank you so much, and God bless.
My question is not a short one, but I can’t get any answers from anyone regarding the issues my mom has been having since 2022. She had Covid in January of 2021 and found out that spring she had a mitral valve prolapse. By November of the same year, she was having open heart surgery. My mom was healthy, never went to the doctor, and never got sick enough to need to go. After Covid, she noticed her heart racing, and bam—she was diagnosed with a mitral valve prolapse, leading to the surgery. Before the surgery, the hospital/cardiologist told her, “It would be best and just easier if you got the vaccine,” so she complied. The surgery went well, and the recovery was normal. What should she do now considering these circumstances?
My father has cancer in his lungs and brain. He suddenly became immobile, disoriented, and showed dementia-like symptoms after being infected by a mild cold. What could have happened, and is there any cure for the recent changes in his condition?
