Inflammation and Heart Health

Plaque formation is primarily an inflammatory response, challenging the traditional view that links saturated fat directly to heart disease. Total cholesterol alone is a poor predictor of cardiovascular events, as many individuals with heart attacks have normal to low cholesterol levels. Instead, examining the size and density of LDL particles, along with inflammation markers, provides a more comprehensive understanding of heart health. The focus should shift from blaming fat to addressing the roles of sugar and unhealthy oils in cardiovascular issues.
