Will you please cover "delayed sleep phase syndrome"? It's a long story, but my father has this condition, and now I think I do as well. I know you specialize in sleep, and I'm hoping you can enlighten us about it. I've tried everything you've proposed to conquer insomnia, but now I realize my sleep is off-schedule and can't seem to be corrected. Perhaps very few suffer from this, so maybe not a whole podcast, but could you just point me to sources of information? I used to work in neuroscience research, so feel free to get as much into the science as you want. ;-)

I'm having sleep issues where I wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep. I have no issues falling asleep when I go to bed around 8:30 or 9:00 p.m., and I'm a heavy sleeper until about midnight or around 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. After that, I start having sporadic sleep, and sometimes I'll wake up and can't fall back asleep. I avoid lights at night, take magnesium supplementation that doesn't seem to work, and take vitamin D supplementation. I live a sedentary lifestyle but have started weightlifting more often last week. I don't drink caffeine after noon. Where I live, the sun rises around 7:30 a.m. and sets around 4:30 p.m. in this season. What can I do to improve my sleep quality?
