I am going to a psychologist because I feel emotionless most of the time, experience manic episodes with hyperactivity and bursts of creativity, and have very down periods. When I feel 'normal,' I tend to overthink everything, which makes me very tired and socially isolated. These issues may have underlying causes such as trauma, but the fact that my neural circuits keep wiring this way concerns me. I want to know if there are other treatments for constant anxiety besides speaking therapy, as that doesn't seem to help me despite my efforts.
I noticed that in several podcasts, there are too many assumptions, particularly when addressing PTSD and amnesia. For example, I was in a blunt force trauma car accident and have no memory. CPTSD was in place prior to the car accident, which is the cause of my amnesia 16 months ago. Now I have both conditions and am stumped as there has been no improvement. Thus, I must live with both and do not know what to do. Am I resilient? Yes. However, the combination of these conditions is something I'm coping with as I do not want meds or therapy. I believe I can self-heal, but how can I do that?
I struggle with addiction, starting to drink or use drugs, and it gets bad quickly, with 3-day hangovers and week-long withdrawals. I’ll get sober, but a week or two later, I relapse. Sometimes it's worse than others, depending on how fast I decide I need to stop. I’m severely depressed and tired of living like this. I get no joy or tranquility, which makes me give in to drinking and drugs again. I desperately want to be sober and find peace. Is there anything specific I can focus on, such as vitamins, gut health, or other lifestyle changes, to break this vicious cycle?
