Cloth Masks and Infection Risk

Researchers found that cloth masks may increase the risk of infection due to moisture retention and poor filtration. Wearing a cloth mask was associated with a 13 times higher risk of developing an infection. The mask's wet microclimate can make it more permeable to virus particles, and they can still escape through the sides and top of the mask.
