    The Kingdom of Kush, a blend of Egyptian and Nubian customs, rose to prominence by the 8th century BC with a strong centralized royal system. The Kushite king Costa peacefully took over Upper Egypt, leading to his son Pai invading Lower Egypt and establishing the 25th Dynasty, also known as the Nubian Dynasty or the Kushite Empire 1. This dynasty, which lasted from 744 BC to 656 BC, marked the end of domestic rule for Egyptians for centuries 1.
