Treadmill of Happiness

Familiarity can dull our appreciation for the people and experiences in our lives, leading us to present our best selves to strangers rather than those we love. This phenomenon, known as the hedonic treadmill, suggests that despite our efforts to seek happiness, we often find ourselves stuck in a cycle of diminishing returns. Engaging in positive interactions with others, even strangers, can unexpectedly elevate our own mood, highlighting the importance of intentionality in our social connections.
