Do you think I'm being wise with my weight loss plan? I did a cut from December to the middle of April and spent the summer in and out of maintenance, sometimes a little bit above and sometimes a little bit below my target weight. I am about 7 pounds away from my absolute goal, so I am doing a four-week more aggressive cut, even though I’ve been a little bit in and out of cuts all summer. My previous cuts have all been very gentle and gradual. I ended my big cut at 141 pounds and have maintained a weight of around 145 pounds all summer.
I’m a 29-year-old woman who has lost 50lbs since January 2024 (CW: 200). I have been hitting my protein targets consistently, walking an average of 15K steps a day, and am committed to strength training. I didn’t get any body composition scans done until recently, but over a few months, I saw that I was building a little muscle while losing weight on the scale, which I’m proud of. As I look toward this next 50lbs of loss, I’m wondering if the tools that have gotten me to this point are the ones I should stick to. I’d like to disconnect from my need to weigh myself every morning, but with so much weight left to lose, it feels scary to let that go and focus on body composition instead. What should I consider as I make this decision?
I have a question about the episode Drastically IMPROVE Your Odds Of Long-Term Fitness & Health Success | Mind Pump 2114 and the clip Calorie Tracking Balance. I am unsure if I want to be tracking calories for my whole life, and I don't know what it will be like to maintain my weight at 145-160lbs without an app. What should I do in my situation: follow a more distinct bulk phase right now, adding .5lbs per week /.35%BW per week, then cutting and repeating; or a moderate bulk at .2-.3lbs per week /.15-.21%BW per week and then maintain at 145lbs or 150lbs?
