How can I optimize my routine to create synergy, scheduling each activity at the most optimal time of the day to achieve the best results possible and ensuring that each activity supports or helps the others (e.g., exercise helping me achieve better results in writing and law), as discussed in the episode Steven Pressfield: The War of Art | Lex Fridman Podcast #102 and the clip Perfect Day Routine?
I'm trying to optimize my daily routine. I'm a lawyer (specialized in corporate law) and a writer. I have 7 novels written, but none published yet (so I'm trying to schedule a daily time for editing/re-writing and a time for creative writing, i.e., writing new things). I'm also trying to improve my physical fitness (I try to go to the gym to lift weights from Monday to Friday and to do cardio on weekends). I'm aiming to have two deep work sessions daily (one for writing, one for law), for about two hours each and about one or two hours for shallow work. I'm also scheduling a couple of hours per day for reading: one for reading novels and one for reading non-fiction; ideally fiction in the evenings and non-fiction in the mornings. Does that make sense, or should I make some changes, like for example reading fiction after lunch and before writing or moving exercise to the evenings instead of the mornings? Please feel free to propose any type of modification that can improve the aforementioned routine, aiming for efficiency and synergy.
