I have a question and some concerns about my recent diagnosis. This past February, I was diagnosed with Her2- ER/PR+ breast cancer following a biopsy after a mammogram. I have zero cancer in my family, and while I haven’t lived the most healthy lifestyle, I was shocked by this diagnosis.
Would it be worth my wife doing the genetic test after her diagnosis of hormone-positive ductile carcinoma breast cancer and her treatment, including a double mastectomy and medications?
An ultrasound in May of my axillary lymph nodes showed they were all clear. Surgery was scheduled for July. After surgery, the pathology report showed that it was in 2 of the 3 lymph nodes that were removed. However, they are recommending a very aggressive regimen of chemo, targeted therapy, plus radiation due to the fact that it had moved into lymph nodes and the type of cancer that the report now showed.
